about Jenny
I create with the hand of an architect and the heart of a scientist. My drawings serve as an infinite sketchbook – a way to organize a messy inner monologue with the help of an ever-evolving visual logic.
Part neurological self portrait and part unintentional rorschach test, my drawings explores a miniature universe borne out of spontaneous expression and meticulous chaos.
bio
Jenny Guan was born in Shaoguan, China in 1985. As a first generation immigrant growing up within the ever expanding Silicon Valley, she cultivated an appreciation for logic and systems through frequent trips with her mechanical engineer father to electronic stores and robotic laboratories.
These early explorations of the magic that happens when one puts the right pieces together in the right order carried over into a decade long career as a practicing architect, and later on, as a co-founder of a predictive analytics startup. The experiences and knowledge gained from this multidisciplinary path provides a continuous funnel for her body of artwork.
Jenny received her Bachelor of Architecture from California College in 2008, where she recently taught drawing and digital fabrication as a member of the design faculty. She currently lives and works in San Francisco.
